Lookup Churchill County Detention Center Inmates

Churchill County Detention Center is the adult county jail for Churchill County and the main place to look up inmates held before trial or on local custody matters. A Churchill County Detention Center inmate lookup uses the jail phone, sheriff app, VINE, and public-records request channels because no standard official browser roster was located. State, federal, and immigration custody use separate systems after transfer or when another agency controls the case.

Churchill County Detention Center Overview

The Churchill County Detention Center is operated by the Churchill County Sheriff's Office. It is the primary adult jail for Churchill County and is housed inside the Sheriff's Office complex in Fallon. The jail opened in December 2017 after the older adult jail had become overcrowded. The county describes it as a major improvement over the prior facility.

The facility holds mostly adult pretrial inmates, adults waiting for bail or trial, and adults serving local jail sentences. Juveniles are not a routine population at this adult jail. The county states that a juvenile may be held there only if adjudicated as an adult and remanded by the courts. Teurman Hall is a separate juvenile facility and should not be treated as the adult inmate lookup route.

Because the jail is inside the Sheriff's Office complex, several public tasks point to the same place: custody-status calls, detention questions, sheriff records requests, and the public counter for non-emergency business. That does not mean every record is released at the counter. Current custody status is handled by the jail phone, while detailed booking records or photographs may need the public-records form and review.

The official detention facility page shows the jail capacity, mail address, VINE link, and custody-service context.

Churchill Detention Capacity

Churchill County Detention Center is rated for 120 beds. The county states that operational capacity fluctuates between 65 and 80 based on inmate classification. Classification is the jail's housing-control process. It can separate people by safety risk, sex, medical need, protective custody, disciplinary status, and other factors. For that reason, the usable count is lower than the rated bed count.

The research did not locate a current average daily population or annual booking total for the facility. A records request to the sheriff is the best route for a date-specific jail count.

Look Up Churchill Detention Inmates

No official public browser roster for Churchill County Detention Center was found. The county's status page directs inmate and prisoner status questions to the jail phone. The sheriff page says the official Churchill County Sheriff NV app includes jail information and inmate searches. VINE is linked by the county for custody notification, while public-records requests cover booking records or older custody details not answered through those channels.

The lookup route should match the person's case stage. If the arrest is new, start with the jail because court records may not yet show the case. If the person has been sentenced to state prison, use the NDOC locator. If a federal or immigration case is involved, BOP and ICE systems may become relevant. A local jail hold can also coexist with another agency's detainer, so one lookup system may not tell the full custody story.

  1. Gather the person's full legal name, date of birth or age, and arrest date if known.
  2. Call Churchill County Detention at (775) 423-1596 for current custody status.
  3. Use the Churchill County Sheriff NV app if mobile inmate search information is needed.
  4. Use VINE for custody notifications and status alerts.
  5. File a sheriff records request for booking documents, mugshots, or older custody records.

Note: Sentenced Nevada prisoners should be searched in the NDOC locator, not through the county jail.

Booking at Churchill Detention

Newly booked inmates are locked down for the first 48 hours. During that period, phone access is limited to one hour per day. After the initial period, inmates may move to a morning or evening tier rotation for phones, showers, television, and dayroom activity. Staff will not disclose tier rotations to callers.

Booking can include identification, search, property inventory, removal and storage of jewelry, booking photo, fingerprints, medical screening, classification, housing assignment, and phone PIN setup. Tablets may be assigned during booking and are issued from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Kiosks in dorms support commissary, video visits, phone calls, and requests to detention staff.

The first 48 hours can be confusing for families because calls are limited and court filings may not be complete. A person may be in the jail even if no web result appears and no call has come through. The better path is to confirm custody by phone, then check Justice Court or District Court if the question is about charges, hearings, or bond orders.

Churchill Detention Records Requests

For booking records, mugshots not online, incident reports tied to an arrest, or older custody information, use the Churchill County Sheriff's Office public-records request. The request form is addressed to the Sheriff's Office, Attention: Public Records, at the West A Street address. It can be delivered, mailed, or faxed. The form references possible copy charges, written estimates, deposits, estimated completion, denial, and final payment steps.

The Sheriff's Office forms page is the official source for the public-records request and related sheriff links.

About Churchill County Detention

The adult detention center replaced an older overcrowded jail. It is part of the Sheriff's Office support structure and is tied to detention operations, civil functions, records access, jail communication, and custody-status calls. The inmate handbook documents phones, mail, commissary, video visitation, grievances, medical requests, voting access, and facility rules. Voting access is unusually detailed: the facility provides voter-registration documents, coordinates secure ballot handling, and can escort eligible inmates for in-person voting while maintaining custody.

Note: Call Churchill County Detention before traveling, scheduling a visit, or mailing funds to confirm current rules.
